Product Description When Nancy and Robert marry, their slacker sons struggle to get along and get employed.
Crude, juvenile, and proud of it, Step Brothers stars Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly as two 40-year-old men, both living at home and leading the lives of 13-year-old boys, who are thrown together when their single parents (Mary Steenburgen, Parenthood, and Richard Jenkins, Six Feet Under) get married. Brennan (Ferrell) and Dale (Reilly) start out hating each other as only teenage boys can--but things get even worse for their long-suffering parents when they become best friends. Step Brothers gets most of its mileage from very lowbrow humor, but hidden among the farts and masturbation jokes is the suggestion that while these guys may be emotionally arrested, so are Brennan's hotshot business executive brother (Adam Scott, Tell Me You Love Me) and his high-fiving frat-boy pals, just in a way that's condoned because it makes money. Also crucial is that Ferrell and Reilly capture adolescence in all its gruesome glory--the awkward insecurity but also the egomaniacal, arrogant self-centeredness. Mind you, this isn't the American version of The 400 Blows or anything--one of the movie's setpieces features Brennan tea-bagging Dale's drum set (and if you don't know what tea-bagging is... well, you will after seeing this movie). All in all, Step Brothers combines the adolescent humor of producer Judd Apatow (Superbad, Knocked Up) and the comic chemistry of Ferrell and Reilly (who previously costarred in Talladega Nights)--fans of either will find plenty to enjoy. --Bret Fetzer Stills from Step Brothers (click for larger image)

Love July 25, 2010 langel I love Step Brothers! Every scene and line in this movie is hilarious. It's one of those movies that you will instantly be able to quote word for word. I'm not always a huge Will Ferrell fan, but he did an excellent job in this movie, and kept me laughing and entertained the whole way through.
No thanks July 5, 2010 MISTER SJEM (CALIF BAY AREA United States) 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Too silly for my tastes. I watched it for about five minutes and turned it off. Sometimes I really like Will Ferrel's work but not this time. MY GRADE: D minus.
Outrageous. June 17, 2010 ADRIENNE MILLER (TENNESSEE) Stepbrothers starring Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly is laugh-out-loud funny but kinda gross at the same time. Some of the jokes are so off-color but I couldn't help but enjoy this film from beginning to end. Some scenes I thought were a little too much but overall, Stepbrothers is so bad - it's good! Even Mary Steenburgen is delightful in this comedy, she hasn't been this likeable since Parenthood, who knew she had such strong comic timing? Stepbrothers is silly, painfully true, and completely childish but it works. Enjoy!
"sh-shush" ...dont listen to the 1 stars. April 13, 2010 M. Spinella (Kushtown, California) 1 out of 2 found this review helpful
This movie is stupidly brilliant. A grade "A" top notch raunchy Will Ferrell Comedy co-written by Will Ferrell and John Reilly personally. So all you 1 stars can eat your words of what John C. Reilly really thinks of the movie ...he wrote it. YouTube John C. Reilly and see what happens, I bet your not even fans of his improv work. If you liked Dewey Cox: Walk Hard and/or Tim and Eric's Awesome Show Great Job then you should love this movie. Have you 1 stars even seen or enjoyed a rated R/unrated comedy. And guess what if its rated R and it's a comedy of course it's going to be vulgar ...you think it got the R rating from all the violence and sexual scenes??? Cmon man ...all you 1 stars are proving to be as dumb as dale and brennan in the movie. And here's a huge hint regarding Will Ferrell comedies: if it's not even slightly stupid and/or absurd it most likely wont be funny.(just look at Bewitched) Stupidity = humor ...how hard is that to understand. If you don't get the joke then be a man and admit comedy isent the thing you should be criticizing ...go watch Full Moon or Avatar or some other mainstream insult.
Seriously under rated April 11, 2010 J. Demings (Modesto, CA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This movie is a real sleeper. The first time I watched it I thought it was funny, but after watching a few more times I think it is great. These two portray the base element of every man. The "forever 13" humor that almost all men love, even if they don't like to admit it. Mary Steenburgen is also hilarious. Some people who are too uptight to laugh at juvenile humor will trash this movie, but it is funny. The casting throughout was perfect.
